"Specializing in Hardwood Flooring"

The HFI Difference

Howdyshell Flooring, Inc. (HFI) was created to offer customers in the Central Virginia flooring market an alternative  to the hyped-up, inattentive flooring superstores, the disorganized, inexperienced one-man shows, and the "full-service" flooring stores trying to specialize in everything but lacking the attention to detail consumers deserve. We offer a unique combination of experience, professionalism, expertise, customer-focus, and values that results in an outstanding floor company you can trust.

Our philosophy of providing guaranteed products, outstanding service and excellent quality help us ensure that your new floor is beautiful enough to serve as our next new showroom.

Hands-On Ownership
Each day at HFI, owners Steve Howdyshell & Steve Iddings work with their crew members installing and refinishing. This ensures that every step of the process is done right; from the initial quote, to the first board installed all the way to the post job follow-up. Our aim is to meet, if not EXCEED your expectations. Unlike most floor companies in the Richmond area, HFI truly "specializes" in wood floors.

More About Us

Steve "Howdy" Howdyshell grew up in the Richmond area and graduated from V.C.U. while learning the hardwood flooring business. With over 20 years experience, Howdy oversees all the sanding, staining, and coating work at HFI. His knowledge and hands-on approach helps to ensure all jobs run smoothly and meet expectations.

Steve Iddings was raised in the Richmond area prior to obtaining an engineering degree from Virginia Tech. Being responsible for all the installation projects, Steve utilizes his attention to detail and years of training to make each job a success. He ensures product selection, job-site conditions and installation techniques meet customer requirements and industry standards, as well as HFI's expectations
