Custom Floors:   Your Design - Our Experience

Adding wood floors to your home is truly an investment, take the opportunity to make them special by incorporating some custom features you will enjoy and be proud of for decades.  Below, the two pictures on the left show a home featuring Red Oak floors with rooms divided by custom borders made of 5" American Cherry.  Showing the floors before & after the finishing process, the two images on the right are of a formal dining room where we installed the Red Oak floor on a diagonal and added an inset border made up of Black Walnut & Maple. 

Exotic Wood Species

This magnificent home was designed with over 2000 square feet of hardwood flooring, their choice - Tiger Wood.  We created a special look by alternating 3" & 5" width boards and creating a beautiful 9" wide border in the great room made from Clear Grade Maple.  The middle image also shows the formal dining room which had the Tiger Wood installed on a diagonal to set it apart from the other adjoining rooms.

The home showcased below utilized  Brazilian Cherry throughout to create borders & room dividers.  The pictures to the left show the dining room which needed to be separated from the gathering room.  By constructing a border of Brazilian Cherry with Red Oak feature strips the room has it's own identity.  The far right picture is of the one-of-a-kind foyer where a hexagon shape creates a truly custom space for the homeowner to welcome guests.

A Step Above

Many homeowners throughout Richmond now enjoy solid hardwood staircases that have been converted from the original cheap pine/carpet steps provided by the builder.  Using solid oak these, "stair-conversions" will last a lifetime, can match your current hardwood floors, and can be sanded & coated as needed in the future.  The award winning home on the right side shows how HFI can not only stain floors but can create custom colors to match your design.  This home, which serves as a model & sales center, had colors custom mixed to the architects color pallet in order to match historically-appropriate designs.
